How To Save Money On Auto Restoration And Make your car look Great, Finish Your Car, And Make It Look The Way You Want it to.
Everybody wants to save money these days, it’s seems that we don’t know what will happen next, I thought that I’d give you some ideas that could help you do just that on your auto restoration project, this is an area that I haven’t dived into yet, so bare with me.
The best way that I can think of for you to save a little skin in the game of restoration is to do as much as you can yourself, most shops will do partial restoration work, and just concentrate on the areas that you can’t do, but there are still other ways to do it.
One of the best ways that I can think of, is not to go insane and lose control on your overhaul project, take some time to sit sown and think about what it is your trying to accomplish with your project, plan it out the the last detail.
After you decide what you want your car to be when it’s done, you can plan out the details, such as parts, paint work, interior, mechanical, and electrical items that need to be fixed, or replaced, once you know this you can begin the final planning of your project.
At this point you should sit down and plan a budget for your overall work, plan your paint scheme, get a handle on the product prices for the paint that you want to use, I always suggest a complete electrical overhaul just for safety reasons.
You should always look at replacing the entire braking system also, this is for you safety, as well as everybody else on the road, the rest of the mechanical rebuild is ll up to you, it’s cheaper these days to buy a create motor, then to do a complete rebuild.
You get the added protection of a factory warranty with a crate motor also, you should keep the motor that came out of the car, and possibly rebuild it later, but if your trying to save money, it’s a good idea to use a create motor.
Beyond this you need to take a good look at all of the parts on the car and determine what you need to replace, and what can be repaired, also weigh out the price deference between repairing, and replacing, it’s not always cheaper to repair then it is to replace.
You should also decide what custom work you want done on your car to see if it falls within your budgeting plans, if not you should think of a way to do the same thing for less money, if that’s not possible it may be time to get rid of the custom plans.
These projects can, and will cost a lot of money, and the best thing that you can do is to prepare yourself for that idea, no matter how much money you save, it won’t be a $5,000 job, so be ready to open your wallet and peel of some cash.
